Musculoskeletal Integrative Physiology and Disease – MSOS (82)
The Musculoskeletal Integrative Physiology and Disease MSOS (82) study section reviews applications involving the integrative physiology of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease conditions. The MIPD study section reviews both animal and human subjects research studies.
Review Dates
A roster for the panel will be posted here, at least 30 days prior to the review meeting
Topics
- Integrative functions: effects of exercise, inactivity, nutrition, and the aging process on musculoskeletal function, homeostasis, and metabolism.
- Effects of exercise on musculoskeletal health and disorders due to aging, injury, and inherited diseases.
- Physiological interactions between the musculoskeletal system and other organ systems, e.g. nervous, immune, cardiovascular, and renal systems in normal and diseased states.
- Physiology and pathophysiology of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders including trauma, falls, sport-related injuries, poor posture, carpal tunnel syndrome, and repetitive motion disorders.
- Effects of chronic disease on the musculoskeletal system including cachexia, sarcopenia and osteoporosis.
- Motor control in integrated limb function including studies of individuals with impaired or altered musculoskeletal function.
- Mechanobiology of skeletal muscle, bone, and joint in relation to musculoskeletal disabilities and injuries.
