Dr. Sarita Sastry received her Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied the role of integrins in muscle differentiation. She completed her post-doctoral work at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she studied the regulation of protein tyrosine phosphatases and Rho GTPases in cell adhesion and motility. Dr. Sastry was an assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Sealy Center for Cancer Biology. Dr. Sastry was the PI of an NCI-funded R01 focused on the regulation and function of the protein tyrosine phosphatase, PTP-PEST, in colon cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Sastry served as National Director of Research and Programs at CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, a non-profit foundation in Bethesda, MD that funds pediatric cancer translational research and drug development.
