Her Ph.D. training was performed through a conjoined program between the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and Duke University. Dr. Weiner completed her post-doctoral training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she used patch clamp whole-cell recording to study the cellular mechanisms involved in the excitability caused by organophosphates in cultured hippocampal neurons and in hippocampal slices.
