Dr. Amber Collins received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University’s Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. From there, she began her postdoctoral training in mechanical engineering at the University of Delaware and then moved to Duke University School of Medicine to continue her postdoctoral work investigating knee osteoarthritis. Dr. Collins then joined the Duke University Medical Center as a Medical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery, where she studied obesity and the potential detrimental inflammatory and mechanical consequences imposed on knee joint cartilage. During her time at Duke, Dr. Collins served as a volunteer and mentor for the Perry Initiative, an outreach program that inspires young women to explore careers in orthopaedic surgery and engineering.
