Dr. Guillermo Bermejo earned his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in the field of biophysics/structural biology, largely focusing on the computational analysis of data from nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to facilitate the protein structure elucidation process. He then conducted postdoctoral training at the NIH’s National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, where he enhanced his experimental skills in the characterization of protein structure and dynamics by NMR, exploiting paramagnetic effects. Continuing his work at NIH, Dr. Bermejo subsequently became a staff scientist at the Center for Information Technology and, later, at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, involved in the design of computational methods to study biomolecular structure and dynamics from NMR and other experimental sources. He implemented such algorithmic tools within a popular software package, Xplor-NIH, which he helped develop and distribute.
