Dr. Christopher Mahone earned his Ph.D. in biological chemistry from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he studied activating signals of bacterial cell wall remodeling for division. Following his Ph.D., he joined the Milken Institute’s Pillar for Philanthropy as a senior associate, implementing biomedical grant programs in understudied fields. He served the Misophonia Research Fund and the Ann Theodore Foundation Breakthrough Sarcoidosis Initiative by administering their peer review processes, coordinating funded investigator meetings, leading meetings with scientific advisory and leadership boards, and managing grant portfolios. Dr. Mahone also partnered on the 10K Brains Project to develop scientific strategy. Dr. Mahone then joined the National Science Foundation in the Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems Division as a science analyst, where he analyzed scientific funding and policy trends to facilitate policy decisions. He also detailed as an associate program director, where he assisted in managing the review process for engineering biology and health cluster programs.
