Dr. Bita Nakhai received her Ph.D. in reproductive biology from the National Institute of Immunology (NII) and pursued her research at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) as a postdoctoral fellow with a focus on serotonin receptor gene expression, followed by additional postdoctoral research on dopamine receptors at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). She subsequently joined Boston Biomedica Inc. (BBI) as a project scientist, where she played a key leadership role in coordinating and managing multiple complex research programs; in this capacity, she also directed and supervised a large, multidisciplinary team of scientists. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Nakhai served as a scientific review officer (SRO) at the National Institute on Aging (NIA), where she oversaw the scientific peer review of applications assigned to the NIA Biology of Aging (NIA-B) study section and numerous Special Emphasis Panels. She also held the role of section chief for Basic and Translational Sciences in the Scientific Review Branch at the National Institute on Aging (NIA). Her portfolio encompassed a broad range of applications, including Center grants, multi-project applications, Career Development Awards, institutional training grants, and Loan Repayment Program (LRP) applications.
