Dr. Frank De Silva earned his Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry from Brown University, where his doctoral research focused on the role of chemokine receptors in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. He did his postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in the Laboratory of Viral Diseases, during which he identified a novel protein/enzyme that constitutes a critical component of the poxvirus DNA replication complex. Prior to joining the Center for Scientific Review, Dr. De Silva served as a scientific review officer in the Microbiology Review Branch within NIAID’s Scientific Review Program, where he reviewed grants and contracts in the areas relevant to infectious diseases.
