Dr. Tuo’s research career was mainly at the National Eye Institute. He studied the epidemiology and immunology of various ocular diseases with a focus on genetic epidemiology, immunological pathways, and biomarkers. Dr. Tuo spent two years at the National Institute on Aging, where he studied DNA repair in premature aging diseases. Before moving to the US, he was an assistant professor of the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Denmark, and taught pharmacology courses. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 original articles, reviews, editorials, and book chapters. Dr. Tuo received his Ph.D. in pharmacology/toxicology from University of Copenhagen, Denmark; MPH and Medical Degree from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences, China.
