Fellowships: Alzheimer’s and Neurodegeneration – F02
The F02 study section reviews fellowship applications which cover all aspects of neurodegenerative diseases. Studies may be mechanistic, preclinical, translational or clinical with focus on the underlying cause of the following diseases: Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias , Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders (Huntington’s disease, dystonia, dyskinesia, and ataxias); and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and related motor neuron disorders. Studies may also be focused on development of potential therapeutics, biomarker or assays relevant to above conditions.
Review Dates
A roster for the panel will be posted here, at least 30 days prior to the review meeting
Topics
- Alzheimer’s Disease when the focus is on molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in preclinical models
- Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and other motor diseases (e.g., ataxias and dystonia) when the focus is when the focus is on molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration
- Molecular mechanisms of cell death and neurodegeneration, including programmed cell death, autophagy and apoptosis in the nervous system
- Therapeutic strategies to enhance recovery of from neurodegenative diseases
- Studies on neuroplasticity, neuroprotection and circuit disorder related to brain diseases and disorders.
- Application involving neuroimaging, electrophysiological recording and stimulation, deep brain stimulation or computational modeling in brain, neuronal injury and neuronal disorders.
- Cellular/molecular approaches, including genetic or epigenetic methods in understanding mechanistic aspects brain, neuronal injury and neuronal disorders and recovery from them.
