Scientific Review Officer
This study section reviews social and behavioral individual level/person-centered interventions involving the uptake or adoption of health behaviors intended to prevent exposure to a disease/condition, and reduce harm, and promote recovery. All studies are in human populations. Population based studies, and studies proposing the use of pharmacotherapies are reviewed in other study sections. Applications with a physiological and biological basis, basic science, or an animal model focus are reviewed in other study sections. Small group-level interventions, community-level interventions, local area/place-based interventions, system-level interventions, and studies with a policy/public health focus are reviewed in other study sections.

Topics
- Interventions to improve mental/cognitive health and psychological well-being (social and emotional well-being, intellectual functioning, social isolation, depression);
- Interventions promoting the uptake of safer drug use behaviors among individuals;
- Interventions to improve health and prevent/reduce harm for conditions such as disordered/dysregulated eating, gaming, mental health, substance misuse and other behaviors;
- Individual interventions to improve health and prevent/reduce harm related to violence, intimate partner violence, aggression, and suicidal behavior;
- Individual interventions examining social, emotional, and/or cognitive development and attempting to improve a specific behavior or health outcome (e.g., academic outcomes, bullying).
