Special Emphasis Panel for Biomarkers for Early Cancer Detection – TCO (80)
The Special Emphasis Panel for Biomarkers for Early Cancer Detection reviews applications addressing the discovery, validation and development of biomarkers for early detection of cancer. Empirical studies to identify biomarkers for cancer risk in patient-oriented research to assess clinical utility. The application of new technologies, computational methods, bioinformatics approaches for tumor markers analysis. The study section also reviews applications focusing on predictive and prognostic biomarkers using small- and large-scale clinical samples.
Review Dates
A roster for the panel will be posted here, at least 30 days prior to the review meeting
Topics
- Identification of biomarkers for early detection, differential diagnosis, prognosis, and measuring tumor burden through analysis and/or molecular profiling of DNA, RNA, and protein from tumor tissue or body fluids.
- Validation of new biomarkers using animal models, human materials and clinical trials.
- Phase-I clinical trials where the primary goal is biomarker validation.
- Early detection of cancer, or monitoring its progression using new technologies, computational methods, bioinformatics, and medical imaging approaches.
- Novel bioassays for discovering predictive and prognostic biomarkers
