Dr. Hui Chen received her medical training in China and was an attending physician in endocrinology at a top hospital before she immigrated to the U.S. After completing her endocrinology fellowship training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Chen came to NIH and worked as a physician scientist in the intramural programs for 22 years before becoming a Scientific Review Officer. Dr. Chen received privileges to work with human subjects for clinical protocols in the NIH Clinical Center, and has extensive experiences in basic, translational, and clinical research in the fields of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic disorders, and gained technical expertise in molecular/cellular biology and animal models. Dr. Chen has authored 56 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. She also received a Merit Award for mentoring and training physicians and scientists at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
