Dr. Yanming Bi received her Ph.D. in bone biology from Case Western University, School of Medicine. Her graduate work on orthopaedic implant loosening received the William Harris Award for outstanding research related to the hip and the Kappa Delta Award for excellence in orthopaedic research. Thereafter, Dr. Bi pursued her postdoctoral training and later served as a staff scientist at the NIH National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, where she spearheaded the research on the isolation and characterization of tendon stem/progenitor cells and their extracellular-rich niche. Before coming to CSR, Dr. Bi was an assistant professor at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, where her research was focused on the role of extracellular matrix proteins in the regulation of the growth and differentiation of musculoskeletal cells (bone, cartilage and tendon/ligament) and their precursors in health and diseases.
