Dr. Vanessa Sherk received her Ph.D. in exercise physiology from the University of Oklahoma. She received post-doctoral training at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where she focused on how nutrition affects bone metabolism. During that time, Dr. Sherk was also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado. Her primary research focus was on factors that influence skeletal adaptations to exercise and the energy metabolism of bone cells. She has over 55 publications and, prior to joining CSR in 2022, had been funded through an NIH T32 Fellowship, an NIH KL2 Career Development Award, the National Science Foundation, and held two foundation awards (American College of Sports Medicine, and American Society for Bone and Mineral Research).
