Dr. Debasmita (Deb) Patra is an interdisciplinary social scientist and received a Ph.D. in Sociology from University of Hyderabad, India. She did her postdoctoral training at the Cornell Nanoscale Facility. Her research and teaching broadly looked at the impact of science and technology on society and vice versa, socio-technical adoptions, stakeholders’ perspectives including underserved communities, barrier analysis, ethics, and risk. Before joining CSR, she worked as a Program Director-Evaluation and Assessment at the University of Maryland Extension. Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant Research Professor at the Dept. of Environmental Science and Technology at UMD. She is well versed with both qualitative (ethnography, case study, interviews, thematic analysis, content analysis), and quantitative (scientometric, bibliometric, co-citation/classification, social network, survey) research methods.
