Dr. Perez-Torres earned his Ph.D. in Translational Biology and Molecular Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine and followed that up with postdoctoral training in the Department of Radiology at Washington University in Saint Louis. Dr. Perez-Torres then took a faculty position in the School of Health Sciences at Purdue University with a focus on medical physics, followed by a collegiate faculty position at Virginia Tech in the Academy of Integrated Sciences. His research focused on the use of MRI techniques to track animal models of human disease. The primary pathology of interest in his publication was the side effects of radiation therapy in the brain, but Dr. Perez-Torres has also published on Alzheimer's disease, neurodevelopment, multiple sclerosis, and nanoparticle contrast agents.
