Dr. Seyhan Boyoglu-Barnum earned her Ph.D. from Alabama State University and completed postdoctoral training at Emory University, where she specialized in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine development. She contributed to the MERS outbreak response within the CDC’s Division of Viral Diseases before joining the NIH Vaccine Research Center (VRC) in 2016. At VRC, Dr. Boyoglu-Barnum led mosaic influenza vaccine research and preclinical studies supporting the COVID-19 pandemic response. Dr. Boyoglu-Barnum has served as an editor for multiple immunology and virology journals, authored forty-eight peer-reviewed publications, and is a patent holder. Prior to joining CSR, she served as senior manager and acting director at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where she led U.S. scientific communications and supported viral vaccine research and development.
