Dr. Weiqun Li received his first MD degree at the Nanjing Medical University in China and his second one at the Freie University of Berlin in Germany. He did his postdoctoral training at the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology, National Cancer Institute (NCI). He was an assistant professor at both Georgetown University and Virginia Commonwealth University and a director at a local biotech company. In his early career, he focused on cytokines, signal transduction, and mechanisms for hematopoietic cell transformation. He has published close to 50 peer-reviewed papers in these areas. Before joining the CSR, he was first the SRO and then the Chief of the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Scientific Review Branch for close to two decades, where he organized peer review meetings and supervised review staff. He has expertise in cancer biology, behavior, and clinical science.
