The Integrative and Clinical Endocrinology and Reproduction Study Section [ICER] reviews applications that focus on the physiology and pathophysiology of endocrine and reproductive systems involving neurophysiological, molecular, biochemical, and cellular approaches. Emphasis is on clinical and translational endocrine and reproductive science investigations.

Membership Panel

The membership panel is a list of chartered members only.

Topics

  • Physiology and non-malignant disorders of endocrine organs: hypothalamic, pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal physiology, toxicology, and pathophysiology; mechanisms of puberty; autoimmune endocrine disease.
  • Reproductive toxicology: Effects of environmental toxicants on reproductive function.
  • Neuroendocrinology: reproductive neuroendocrinology, including development and mechanisms of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis; anterior pituitary hormones; neurophysiology of hormones.
  • Disorders of reproductive system: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, hypogonadism, precocious puberty, pituitary adenomas, and leiomyomata (fibroids).
  • Endocrinology of aging: menopause; end-organ analysis; mechanisms of endocrine longevity of reproductive organs.
  • Mammary gland development: maturation and physiology; hormonal control of lactation; prolactin.

Shared Interests and Overlaps

There are shared interests with Cell Signaling and Molecular Endocrinology (CSME) in the investigation of endocrine organ physiology. Applications focused on endocrine regulation of reproductive organs and their non-malignant disorders may be reviewed in ICER, while those that focus on endocrine organ(s): pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal may be reviewed by CSME.

There are shared interests with Cellular, Molecular and Integrative Reproduction [CMIR] in the investigation of signaling pathways that modulate reproductive systems. Applications that focus on investigation of translational and clinical reproductive sciences may be reviewed in ICER. Applications focused on environmental factors or xenobiotics effects on male and female gonads may be reviewed by CMIR.

There are shared interests with Pregnancy and Neonatology Study Section [PN] in the investigation of reproductive toxicology. Applications that focus on effects on pregnancy complications or fetal development may be reviewed in PN. Applications focused on endocrine or reproductive function may be reviewed by ICER.

There are shared interests with Neuroendocrinology, Neuroimmunology, Rhythms and Sleep Study Section [NNRS] in the investigation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Applications that focus on the mechanisms of the HPG axis and neurophysiology of hormones may be reviewed in ICER. Applications focused on cognitive and behavioral outcomes may be reviewed in NNRS.
