Dr. Altaf Dar received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena, Germany. Following postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University and University of California, San Francisco, he joined California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC). Dr. Dar worked as an Associate Professor/Scientist at CPMC before joining the CSR. Dr. Dar has expertise in the fields of molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and epigenetics. His scientific research identified and characterized the role of various genes and microRNA's in melanoma and breast cancer. Dr. Dar served as a lead investigator on Cancer Avatar Program at CPMC to identify genetic modulations and novel therapeutic options for gastro-intestinal cancers. Dr. Dar served as a reviewer for the NIH, Wellcome Trust and French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM).
