Dr. Aubrey (Spriggs) Madkour earned her Ph.D. in maternal and child health with a minor in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also was a pre-doctoral trainee in population sciences. After graduating, she became a faculty member at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where she was an assistant then associate professor in Social, Behavioral and Population Sciences (SBPS). In addition to serving as the Doctoral Program Director for SBPS, she taught courses in social and behavioral sciences theory at both the master’s and doctoral level; a course on adolescent health and development; and the seminar for SBPS doctoral students. Her research examined social and contextual determinants of trajectories of health behaviors, including causes and consequences of sexual initiation timing; dating and intimate partner violence; and alcohol use in both general population and clinical samples (i.e., adults living with HIV.)
