Dr. Linda Jurata received her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of California, San Diego, where she studied interactions between transcription factors and transcription mediators in the context of vertebrate development. During her NIH-supported postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, she explored the molecular genetics of spinal motor neuron differentiation. Then, as a scientist in a start-up biotechnology company, Dr. Jurata investigated gene expression signatures related to psychiatric disorders and therapeutic psychiatric drugs, before transitioning to a teaching career. Dr. Jurata was an associate professor of biology at Montgomery College, where she taught undergraduate courses in the basic principles of cellular and molecular biology, genetics, and fundamentals of scientific research. She co-founded the Early College/Honors Program, mentored honors student research projects, and co-organized STEM student research conferences at Montgomery College, before joining CSR.
