Dr. Manas Chattopadhyay received his Ph.D. in biological science from the Bose Institute and Jadavpur University, both in India. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Jikei University School of Medicine in Japan and the National Institutes of Health, USA. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Chattopadhyay was a staff scientist at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Then, he was a scientific review officer for the Scientific Review Branch (SRB) of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). At SRB he coordinated the review of a wide range of applications for research capacity building and program project grants, including the Support for Research Excellence (SuRE) (R16), Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE), NIGMS National and Regional Resources, and Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, cellular biology, and molecular biology.
