Dr. Sonia Ortiz-Miranda received her Ph.D. in Neurosciences from the University of California, Davis. After postdoctoral training in the Physiology Department, University of Massachusetts Medical School, she took a faculty position in the Microbiology and Physiological Sciences Department and later at the Neurobiology Department, University of Massachusetts Medical School. While there, in addition to carrying out her NIH-funded research, she taught medical school core courses and trained medical, and pre- and post-doctoral graduate students. Dr. Ortiz-Miranda was a scientific review officer at the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) since 2019 before joining the Center for Scientific Review in 2025.
