Review Branch Summary

The Neuropathology B Review Branch reviews applications that focus on neurodegenerative diseases. Applications may span genetic, molecular and cellular approaches to mechanistic, translational and human-subject based studies to examine the etiology, pathogenesis and management of these diseases and disorders. These neurodegenerative diseases include but are not limited to Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders (Huntington’s disease (HD), dystonia, dyskinesia, and ataxias); and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and related motor neuron disorders. In addition, the NPB review branch also has study sections that examine neuroimmune function and inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases, environmental factors which may lead to disease as well as therapeutic development for neurodegeneration. Applications may be mechanistic, preclinical, translational or clinical in nature and use animal, non-human primates or human subjects and/or specimens.
