Dr. Tera Bounds received her doctorate in comparative pathology from the University of California, Davis and a veterinary degree from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She practiced food animal medicine for 4 years before concentrating on researching integrated strategies to control food animal gastrointestinal parasites as an independent investigator for almost twenty years. The last four of those years were spent at the Agricultural Research Services (USDA-ARS), where she conducted studies on the role of host genetics on resistance/susceptibility to gastrointestinal nematode infections. Since joining CSR in July 2003 she has been involved in the management of a variety of study sections focused on infectious diseases as a member of the Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Integrated Review Group. She has been the Scientific Review Officer for the Pathogenic Eukaryotes study section since 2008.
