Dr. Reigh-Yi Lin received her Ph.D. in molecular pharmacology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed post-doctoral training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Lin was an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine for many years, where she led a research team that first successfully converted mouse embryonic stem cells into thyroid follicular cells. This model allowed scientists to identify the molecules responsible for programming thyroid stem cells and may lead the way for better targeted treatments for thyroid disorders. Before coming to NIH, Dr. Lin was an associate professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Otolaryngology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where she directed a thyroid cancer research program focusing on employing cancer stem cell targeting for therapeutic purposes.
