The special emphasis panel reviews fellowship applications in the general area of oncological sciences involving basic and translational investigations that encompass regulation of tumor metastasis, angiogenesis, mechanisms of interactions between tumor and host system, cancer therapeutic development, optimization of treatment modalities, and radiation biology and therapy

- Roles of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), stress and hypoxia in metastasis, angiogenesis and therapy resistance
- Tumor microenvironment and host-tumor interactions
- Role of chronic inflammation in cancer development and progression
