Dr. Jessica M. Smith came to CSR from the Common Fund within the NIH Office of the Director, where she served as a scientific program analyst. She provided scientific expertise and analytical skills to facilitate review for Other Transaction Authority (OTA) awards, program management, strategic planning, evaluation, and science policy for Common Fund programs. Dr. Smith joined the NIH Common Fund after completing a postdoctoral fellowship in the NIH Clinical Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine. While there, she collaborated with the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences to develop high throughput screening assays toward identifying small molecule inhibitors for cancer therapy. Prior to that, she received a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, with a focus on chemical biology and pharmacology toward antibiotic development.
