Dr. Jessica M. Smith is a Scientific Review Officer in CSR’s Cell Biology IRG in the Division of Basic and Integrative Biological Sciences. She came to CSR from the NIH Common Fund, located in the Office of the Director (OD), where she served as a Scientific Program Analyst and Other Transactions (OT) Review Officer. She provided scientific expertise and analytical skills to facilitate review, program management, strategic planning, evaluation, and science policy for Common Fund Programs. Dr. Smith joined the Common Fund after the completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, in the NIH Clinical Center. While there, she collaborated with the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) to develop high throughput screening assays toward identifying small molecule inhibitors for cancer therapy. Prior to that, she received a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine with a focus in chemical biology and pharmacology toward antibiotic development.
