Dr. Imoh Okon holds M.Sc. in medical biotechnology from the University of Westminster, London, M.P.H. in health management and policy, as well as M.B.A. in finance both from Georgia State University, Atlanta. He completed his Ph.D. in clinical medical research with a focus on ovarian cancer at the Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London. Dr. Okon did his postdoctoral training in tumor angiogenesis and cardiovascular dysfunction at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He previously worked for a pharmaceutical company in Essex, United Kingdom, and did a brief stint with the CDC in Atlanta. Prior to joining CSR/NIH, he was a faculty member at Georgia State University. During this time, his research deciphered molecular mechanisms that instigate the pathogenesis and accentuation of chronic disorders, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic syndromes with a focus on translational interventions. Dr. Okon has published several peer-reviewed articles, secured grants, and presented at national and international meetings.
