Dr. Alexei Yeliseev received his Ph.D. in biochemistry at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He then trained in enzymology as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, in molecular biology at Cambridge University, UK, and in microbiology and molecular genetics at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. He worked as a senior scientist, on the development of biotechnologies for production of carotenoid-based nutraceuticals at Hoffman-La Roche, and the production of polyketide-based anti-cancer and anti-infective therapeutics at Kosan Biosciences, Inc. Prior to joining the CSR, he led a program on expression, stabilization, and biophysical characterization of G protein-coupled receptors at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, focusing on structural and functional studies of the human cannabinoid receptor CB2. He has served as an editorial board member of several professional journals and as Executive Editor of Elsevier’s Protein Expression and Purification.
