Dr. Jonathan Arias is a Health Science Administrator at CSR responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of ad hoc reviews on the biology of Alzheimer’s Disease; the Maximizing Investigator Research Award program (MIRA); the Science Education Partnership Award S.T.E.M. K-12 Education initiative: and STEM Cells in Regenerative Medicine to name a few recent examples. He came to this position after a long career in research and teaching as a professor at the University of Maryland in biochemistry and molecular biology. Dr. Arias received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His research there focused on the how gene transcription by RNA Polymerase ll is regulated. After receiving the doctorate degree, Dr. Arias conducted postdoctoral studies on the role of chromatin modifying transcription factor CBP/P300 at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla California.
