Dr. Michael O'Connell received his Ph.D. in developmental origins of health and disease (cell and molecular biology) from the University of Southampton School of Medicine in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania. He further trained in the areas of metastatic melanoma/drug resistance in cancer at the National Institute on Aging and the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia. Prior to joining CSR, he was a Senior Scientist in the Translational Allergic Immunopathology Unit at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases leading efforts to understand how inherited and acquired genetic variation can promote severe inflammation and allergic reactions.
